The dredging tender, which closed to applicants on June 25, and one other matter scheduled to be reviewed at Tuesday’s ordinary meeting were marked as confidential.
The council’s manager of operations, Robert Fish, said the meeting was closed while the tender was discussed because of the “confidential nature” of commercial information and potential prejudice.
“It is not in the public interest to reveal all details of these tenders or the assessment process,” Mr Fish said.
“Tenderers have provided sensitive information about their operations in the confidence that their details will not be made public by council.”
It was expected the successful tenderer would be announced after the meeting on Tuesday.
