During the Great Lakes Council’s launch of Local Government Week on Tuesday, August 5, a citizenship ceremony was held.
In front of friends and family, Amrinder Singh, Xue Liu, Karamjeet Mehrok and her three-year-old son Shehazdeep Singh, made pledges of commitment to Australia.
‘‘Conducting naturalisation ceremonies is one of my favourite tasks as mayor of this council,’’ Jan McWilliams said.
‘‘I wish them well for their futures in the Great Lakes area.’’
NSW Police Superintendent Peter Thurtell attended the citizenship ceremony.
During the launch Margaret Guider was announced as the council’s Library Champion 2013 awardee.
The council’s manager of library services, Chris Jones, accepted the award on her behalf.
