Koala carers are needed as well as rescuers, help with sales, and volunteers to pack up the society's market stalls.
According to society president Sue Swain, those interested in becoming a carer or rescuer need to reside on either the Tomaree or Tilligerry peninsulas.
They also need to have a lot of spare time to volunteer, no large dogs to stress out the koalas and couples are preferred candidates as all rescues require two people.
"You would be trained in all aspects of koala care and rescue," she said.
"All training and equipment is provided by the society, plus a small reimbursement for fuel costs involved in the rescue and care of the koalas."
Anyone interested can contact the society on 0432 086 804.
"If you have always wanted to do something really meaningful where you would make a real difference, then maybe volunteering is for you?" she said.
The Hunter Koala Preservation Society has been caring for sick, injured and orphaned koalas for 28 years.
They take in koalas like little Alice, who was orphaned in June when her mother was killed by a car near Woodville.
Alice was helped by a family who stopped to help her mum and found her on the road.
She is named after the family's four-year-old daughter who kept her wrapped in a towel and warm until she was rescued.
Ms Swain said Alice weighed only 500 grams when she was orphaned and is more than one kilogram and doing really well.
