The Tilligerry Rural Fire Brigade, which is the combined forces of the Tilligerry and Lemon Tree Passage RFS units, will hold its annual community open day and fund-raising car boot sale on September 13.
Now in its fourth year, the combined open and sale day allows residents to sell goods they no longer need by having a stall, getting people out in the community and checking out what the RFS gets up to.
The unit's deputy captain, Bill Finney, said all money raised on the day would stay within the brigade.
"The aim of the car boot sale is to raise funds to maintain and purchase equipment to enable the brigade to continue supporting the community in any incident that may occur within Port Stephens and surrounding areas," Mr Finney said.
"During the day the fire station and vehicles will be open for residents and visitors to see, meet members of the brigade, have a hands-on experience with the equipment and look over our firefighting vehicles."
Stallholders are being sought for the car boot sale, which will be held in McCann Park next to the Meredith Avenue station from 8am. Site fees are just $10 with any and all goods able to be sold on the day.
