MORE police will be patrolling the Port's streets during the October long weekend in support of the 2014 NSW Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout tournament.

About 25,000 people are expected to pour into Port Stephens during the four-day rugby league tournament. Ninety teams from across the state will converge on Lakeside Sporting Complex, in Raymond Terrace.
Extra police will be patrolling the Port Stephens Local Area Command during the knockout, Inspector Guy Flaherty said.
"Additional police will be on hand in support of the event, including Aboriginal liaison officers."
Operation Narla was considered a success last year.
No major incidents were reported at Lakeside, or in the surrounding areas.
Inspector Flaherty said the aim of Operation Narla was to provide a safe environment for players, spectators and residents. He said the command was proud to be a part of the knockout tournament.
The operation will run from 6am to 2am between Friday, October 5, and Monday, October 8.
Inspector Flaherty urged residents to be patient during the four days as the influx of people would mean traffic delays, especially on Friday and Saturday morning.
Lakeside Sporting Complex will be an alcohol and cigarette-free environment for the four days.
