The 10th in her career, Bittersweet is a departure from what fans usually expect from Chambers.
"I wanted to have an experience making a record that I had never had before," Chambers said.
"I wanted to challenge myself and I wanted to be excited."
As well as a studio band, Bittersweet features Bernard Fanning, lead singer of Powderfinger, on acoustic guitar, keyboard, piano, background vocals and lead vocals on the title track.
The album also includes the talents of Ashleigh Dallas on banjo, fiddle, mandolin and background vocals; Dan Kelly on electric and acoustic guitar and background vocals; Matthew Engelbrecht on bass and flugelhorn and Declan Kelly on drums, percussion and vibes.
Sticking to her trademark no-nonsense live recording style, Chambers and band recorded the album in just seven days.
On Sunday, November 23, Chambers with special guest Kim Churchill will perform one show only at Wests New Lambton.
Tickets, available from westsnewcastle.com.au or by phoning 4935 1200, cost $55.
The Examiner has one double pass to give away to the show, with doors opening at 7.15pm.
To win, send your name and contact details in an email titled "Kasey" to ewatts@fairfaxmedia.com.au.
