The first representative side to play for the Medowie-based touch football club, the mixed open team dominated Newcastle City in their first match.
It was the first time the Port Hunter Marauders side had played together.
But, Newcastle City soon learnt that was not stopping a tough performance, going down 2-0.
With nerves out of the way, the Marauders faced the Peninsula Piranhas, from Woy Woy, winning 7-4, moving on to defeat Nelson Bay 8-5 and drawing Wallsend 5-all.
After four rounds the Marauders were on top of the ladder for their pool.
The Marauders came up against a re-structured and much stronger Peninsula side in the semi-final, going down 8-4.
The Piranhas went on to win the tournament.
"Finishing top overall from the regional teams was an exceptional effort," the club's Dan Szarkun said.
Nelson Bay also faired well with both men's and women's under-20 sides making their respective grandfinals.
The men's 40s side narrowly defeated Wallsend 3-2 in the grandfinal.
