Raymond Terrace Library is hosting a free literacy scavenger hunt on November 27 for children aged three to 12 years old.
Participants will start at the rotunda in Riverside Park where they will be given an activity bag.
Inside each bag will be a picture list of places around Raymond Terrace, including the Examiner office, where books have been hidden.
They have to follow the book trail to complete the hunt.
According to organiser Melissa Beasley, the hunt gives children a different way to interact with books and literacy outside the library or classroom.
"There will also be random prizes throughout the day and they will collect pieces of material and craft that will make something once they find the end of the trail," she said.
Parents will need to accompany children on the scavenger hunt which runs from 4pm to 6pm.
All participants need to register at the library, or phone 0427 188 755.
The first 100 children to finish the hunt will also receive a free book.
