IN WHAT is believed to be a state first, Raymond Terrace Bowling Club has claimed both men's and women's NSW lawn bowls titles thanks to Lennon Scott and Kelly Richards.

Scott, the bowls co-ordinator at Raymond Terrace Bowling Club, is now the proud owner of the blue-ribbon NSW State Singles Championship.
Scott won the championship after defeating heavy favourite Aron Sherriff, an Australian bowls representative and world champion, 31-23 at Ettalong last month.
"As far as the men's title is concerned, there's only been four men from Newcastle to win [the state championship] in the last 40 years," Scott said.
"The last was in 2002.
"There's never been anyone from Raymond Terrace to win either singles event."
In Tuncurry at the beginning of the month, Richards, a member of the Raymond Terrace Women's Bowling Club, took out the Women's Bowls NSW State Singles Championship.
It came after she, Margaret Barnett and Natasha Scott, a Commonwealth Games representative and world champion, also won the state triples.
At 23 years old Richards is believed to be the youngest lawn bowler to have won all four state championships, combining this year's singles and triples with her pairs and fours win in 2011.
It has been a successful year for the Raymond Terrace Women's Bowling Club.
The club has become the "grand slam" winner in all four events on the district and regional level.
Richards won both district and regional singles, and with Natasha won the pairs at both levels.
Richards and Scott, along with Barnett and Deanne Price, won the district fours district and region pennant.
"For our club to win all four events in the one season is exceptional - twice in five years is unbelievable," women's club publicity officer Laraine Brown said.
The club last won all four events in 2009.
Earlier this year Richards, Scott, Barnett, Price, Molly Winton, Ann Thompson, Helen Stokes and Pat Skinner won the number one pennant flag for the club.
