The year 10 students gathered at St Philip's on Tuesday, December 2, and took an oath.
It was witnessed by business people, foundation chairman Craig Baumann, deputy chairman Bob Westbury, principals Timothy Petterson and Paul Baxter, teaching staff, careers advisors and representatives from Hunter TAFE.
Marketing manager of the foundation Marian Sampson said the charter signing was also a commitment by the community to support youth in the school-to-employment pathway.
"The foundation believes in the philosophy that it takes a community to raise a child and the support we offer is one vital part of our young people's journey into their working lives," she said.
At the signing ceremony this year, students received an information pack with details of Hunter TAFE, Port Stephens Council and Workible.
Foundation programs which students can participate in include the Wanda Beach Pharmacy Try A Trade and Careers Quest.
There is also the annual Soldiers Point Marina vocational awards where students can access cash to go towards tools of the trade and their education.
