Sporting submissions sought
SUBMISSIONS are now being called for the use of Great Lakes Council’s sporting facilities during the 2015 winter sporting season.
Application forms are available from the council’s engineering services section. Submissions close on Monday, February 23.
Views on coastal plan needed
RESIDENTS have until Friday, February 6, to make a submission to Great Lakes Council’s draft Coastal Zone Management Plan: Management Options Study.
The study outlines practical options to address the risks from coastal hazards to the beach, and land and assets behind the beach.
The study includes all beach areas from south of Black Head to Hawks Nest including North Tuncurry, Forster Main, One Mile, Elizabeth, Blueys, Boomerang, Seal Rocks and Bennetts Beach.
Jimmys Beach is subject to a separate study.
Submissions can be made via the council’s website during the exhibition period or in writing to the general manager and must be received by 4.30pm.
Weed spraying under way
GREAT Lakes Council will carry out herbicide spraying throughout February and March in open drains and retention ponds within the entire local government area.
The spraying will target grasses, reeds, annual and perennial weeds. As a precaution, residents are advised to refrain from using, drinking or swimming in the water for two weeks following the treatment.
For further information phone the council’s weeds officer, Terry Inkson, on 6591 7222.
