The display, which will open on April 13 and close on May 8, focuses on what life was like in Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest during World War I.
Chris Jones, the council’s library manager, said she was ‘‘very excited’’ to be able to host the display, which was put together by members from Tea Gardens RSL Sub-Branch, Myall Coast Historical Society and Tea Gardens Family History Group.
‘‘The organisers must be praised for their vision and drive,’’ Ms Jones said.
“More and more our libraries are becoming important community spaces and we also have a role in celebrating and capturing the nature of our local areas.
‘‘This is a highly significant display and it’s great to see the library being able to play its part.”
On display will be maps, photographs, documents, other artefacts borrowed from families with WWI histories and videos.
The individual histories of each known soldier from the district who enlisted in the first Australian Imperial Force will feature in the display.
A private function for families with WWI links and community representatives will be held on April 24.
The library will be open its usual times and days with regular services operating during the display.
