Work is being conducted in multiple locations across Port Stephens at this moment, including Richardson Road, Raymond Terrace, throughout Tanilba Bay and near the Nelson Bay RSL, where the network needs to be rebuilt.
The main areas affected today include about 2500 homes in Nelson Bay and 2700 in Raymond Terrace. Power is also out to parts of Anna Bay and Salamander Bay, as well as smaller pockets of suburbs across the region.
Extra crews have been brought in from across New South Wales and South East Queensland to help make the network safe and get power back as quickly as possible.
Damage across the network is the extensive. The repair and restoration efforts in some areas hardest hit by the storms are expected to take until early next week.
An Ausgrid statement said it thanked customers for their patience and support for our crews as they work as quickly as possible to get the power back safely.
