The nation's premier dirt bike championship would return to MX Central Ride Park for round six of the 10-race event.
It was expected the race would inject around $500,000 into the Port's economy with riders, supporters, travelling fans and race crew to stay in the area for the weekend.

MX Nationals series promoter Kevin Williams said he was excited to head back to familiar territory, adding that Raymond Terrace always dished out quality racing and plenty of spectators.
“We are very excited to be heading back to Raymond Terrace for round six this weekend," he said.
"All of our championships are still anyone’s to be won, so racing is going to be action packed.
“The Raymond Terrace, Newcastle and Maitland areas have a huge dirt bike following, so it’s always great to see so many fans attending the MX Nationals when we visit, and we are anticipating good crowds this weekend.
“It’s very exciting to be able to support local economies through bringing our National Championship to their regions - and hotels, pubs, shops and more will all benefit from the visit this weekend, that’s for sure.”
Williams also said that with more than three race teams based out of the Newcastle area, round six of the championship will also mark a home round event for a number of MX Nationals teams.
“One great thing about heading back to Raymond Terrace is that we have quite a few of our big teams based in the area, making this round quite special for them,” he said.
“With the series being held all over Australia, a home round for our teams is always great, so I know that there will be plenty of local supporters of the teams heading out to cheer their guys on this weekend."
