However, after reading the heated words of the anti-development group I feel the need to point out sometimes councils have to sell an asset to raise the money to improve other facilities.
Boomerang Park is a wonderful asset, though I have rarely seen people using the park.
This development is fully funded and the land to be developed for housing would be a major asset to bring more people within walking distance of the amenities and businesses, especially the elderly.
There is also the men's shed which caters for a large number of men who enjoy the company of each other.
There will still be a large park which will be improved with walking trails and other recreational activities and this development would be a great asset so close to town.
While I don't always agree with every development proposal, the Boomerang Park development will be a positive.
My hope would be for the anti-development group to accept the decision of the council and use its strength to make the park a showpiece.
