The band took out the national radio station’s annual countdown, held on Australia Day each year, with the track Hoops.
The GTM touring festival, now in its 12th year, will kick off at Maitland Showground on April 23 before heading to Canberra, Oakbank, Townsville, Bunbury and Bendigo.
Tickets for the Maitland festival will go on sale at 9am on February 2.
Electronic hip-hop duo Boo Seeka, which features Newcastle singer Ben Gumbleton, joins The Rubens on the GTM line-up.
Boo Seeka also appeared in the Hottest 100 this year with the single Deception Bay.
Other acts include Melbourne indie rockers British India, 80s throwback pop band Client Liason, ARIA winners Boy and Bear, hip-hop star Drapht, electro trio Safia and party starters DZ Deathrays.
International acts appearing this year include Danny Brown, MS MR, Mutemath, Odesza, Ratatat, Twenty One Pilots and Vic Mensa, all of whom are from the US.
The line-up is completed by Alison Wonderland, Emma Louise, Golden Features, Harts, Illy, In Hearts Wake, Ngaiire, Remi and Vallis Alps.
More artists will be added to the line-up closer to each event.
