The male dog was found roaming in Salamander Bay by council rangers close to two weeks ago and taken to the Williamtown-based refuge.
“We notified the owner but no contact has been made by them,” Mary Hickie, owner of the refuge, said. “Whether they have moved away and left him behind, we don’t know.”
Ms Hickie described Gus as a “lovely dog”.
“He’s a little tubby, but nothing a bit of exercise couldn’t fix,” she said. He’s lovely. Really friendly and energetic.”
Ms Hickie said Gus would be ideal for families with older children, a couple or older person looking for a companion.
“He’s six, so he’s probably a bit too old for little children.”
Gus will cost $285 to adopt form the refuge. The fee covers the cost of desexing, vaccinations, microchipping and a lifetime registration. Phone 4965 0100 to find out more.
