And, for motoring enthusiasts, the tales are often sentimental.
On September 3, there will no doubt be many stories told at the eighth annual Aberdeen Big Boys Toys and Family Day.
Organisers anticipate the high-octane event will include hundreds of cars, bikes, vintage tractors and trucks.
And, they believe there will be something for everyone when the classics roll into Jefferson Park, Aberdeen.
Among the collection will be cars from the Upper Hunter Motoring Association’s Brian Simpson, David Murphy and Colin McLean.
The three motor enthusiasts’ cars have a combined age of more than 140 years.
Those who want to show off their special vehicles are invited to join in the fun.
Entry cost is $2 for adults, $1 for children, and $5 for families.
Children younger than 7 can enter free of charge.
Thrill seekers can look forward to helicopter rides, depending on weather.
For those who like to browse items and produce, there will be a variety of stalls available.
From 9.30am to 2pm, people can view the range of motor vehicles on display, some of which are expected to travel from outside the Upper Hunter to participate in the fun.
Funds raised at the event will support the Aberdeen Men’s Shed and the Lions Club of Aberdeen.
