Officers found the partially buried container in a “public area” in Raymond Terrace on Friday, September 23.
In the container was a plastic bag containing 560 small round pills, which police class as a commercial quantity of drugs.
Police would not say where the pills were found as the investigation into the possession and supply of drugs is ongoing.
The pills have been sent to a Sydney lab for testing.
Investigators executed a search warrant in a residential area in Raymond Terrace on Thursday, September 22.
Nothing was found during the search.
A patrol of the area the following day led police to the area where they found the container.
