Among them were past NSW PGA winner Aaron Townsend, 2009 RBC Canadian Open winner Nathan Green and former US PGA tour professional James Nitties.
They were all in support at Muree - the first in a series of Hunter rounds in the PGA Pro-AM Series.
“Pro-Am tournaments such as these are an important part of player development for our professionals as they look to build the skills and earn opportunities necessary to compete on the PGA Tour of Australasia and progress to other international tours,” said Peter Welden, Tournament Coordinator for the NSW/ACT Division of the PGA of Australia.
Amateurs will also be in the competitive spirit as they join their professionals in the hopes of winning great prizes.
“It’s more than just a competition,” Welden added.
“Pro-Am golf is an important part of growing golf in Australia and all the PGA Professionals look forward to coming to the Hunter Region and playing alongside and sharing some of their knowledge with golf fans from the local area.”
Muree Pro-Am winner, with a score of 6 under-par (65) was Newcastle native Leigh McKechnie. Runner up with a fine score of 5 under-par (66) was Samuel Phillips.
