The band encourage everyone to get up and dance as they roam the festival with their New Orleans style music reminiscent of the city’s famous street marching bands.
Expect anything from gospel hymns to traditional Mardi Gras, through jazz, funk and blues when Rehab play to the crowds on November 5 and 6.
The band comprises some well respected and talented musicians from across the Hunter Valley, including Dave Thompson (trumpet/vocals), Paul Isaacs (tenor sax/vocals), Jeremy Borthwick (trombone/vocals), Leigh Sherringham (sousaphone), James “Wah Wah” Wyatt (guitar/vocals) and Dave Tracey (drums).
“This is our first time at the Tastes of the Bay festival and we’re looking forward having a lot of fun and eating a lot of good food in the breaks!”
With food a focus at this years festival, a number of local restaurants will be on hand to show off their culinary skills and provide festival goers with delicious examples of their fare.
“We are excited to be part of this community event and look forward to sharing our food including house made pizza and arancini balls,” said Marcella Hill of Sienna’s. Sienna’s chef Alexandro Cabanaro will be displaying his Italian flair in the cooking demonstration marquee, showing visitors the secret of making soft, creamy gnocchi.
With local farms growing everything from avocados and stone fruit to figs and macadamias and of course the abundant seafood caught daily, Port Stephens is an area renowned for delicious and fresh local produce and the spectacular dining options are matched only by the equally stunning locations.
Chefs are drawn to the region by the lifestyle and the wonderful produce available which serves to inspire their innovation. Many chefs will be displaying their skills at the festival including celebrity chef Jay Phao-chinda whose signature Pad Thai dish features on Maeve O’Meara’s SBS Food Safari program and local chef Paul Miranda whose renowned for his sumptuous cakes.
They will be attending the cooking marquees to show off their skills and pass on their knowledge to keen foodies.
