THE Annual Foreshore Bay Area Primary Schools Tennis Championships saw students from across Port Stephens battle it out for the prestigious title.

40 kids from Stockton Public School, St Michael's Primary School, Shoal Bay Public School, St Philips Christian College and Soldiers Point Public School participated in the 4th annual event.
After a day full of strong serves, fiery forehands and raging rallies, the fight for top spot came down to the wire, with the students from St Philips Christian College taking home the trophy in the fifth and final pool round.
It was Stockton Public School’s first appearance at the tournament, and the students brought their A game, finishing within five points of the overall champions St Phillips.
James Bellette, head coach at Foreshore Tennis, the company that runs the tournament, said the championship was a great success.
“It was great to see the kids representing their schools with such enthusiasm,” he said.
“I was very impressed with the depth of talent of all the kids.”
Soldiers Point student Talia, 12, said it was a fantastic day. “It was so much fun, the games were challenging and everyone did really well.”
Plans for next years tournament are already underway, with the aim of including two more schools from the area into the championships.
