Beccy Cole will headline Blue Water Country Music Festival when it returns to the Bay in June.

Cole, who has crafted a succession of chart busting tunes since 1997, is but one of a raft of talented performers with more than 20 venues part of a revamped festival.

Amber Lawrence has also signed on for the festival as an acoustic duo – not with Catherine Britt as expected – but Alyce Simmons.

TV talent quest sensations and country music’s answer to the boy band, Brothers3, are also signed on along with The Viper Creek Band from Newcastle.

“Beccy’s an Australian country music superstar and we’re excited to announce she will headline Blue Water this year,” event organiser Ryan Palmer said.

“We’re really happy to have her along and presence really makes us a quality festival that people will want to travel to now and in the future.”

Cole last played Blue Water in 2008. Organisers hope to recapture the festival energy from those early years, without the wet weather that beset the event three years running.

“Looking through the program in those early days we’ll be matching if not exceeding what we achieved then,” Mr Palmer said.

“As we sign a new artist we get another referral, and another and so on.”

Centered around Nelson Bay visitors will enjoy a real “festival atmosphere”.

A busking competition will contribute to the vibe.

“We’ve already had 50 expression of interest from buskers,” Mr Palmer said.

“It will bring a little bit of Tamworth to Nelson Bay.”

A country music cruise including lunch will be another option for festival goers.
