Starling was a late withdrawal from the 30-20 loss to the Panthers after he aggravated a hand injury in the warm-up that he suffered against Canberra.
However, scans were clear of major damage. The injury didn’t stop him from playing cricket and soccer during their indoor sports training session on Tuesday.
Jack Stockwell sat out the indoor session but his rotator cuff problem is also believed to be not as serious as feared.
* Nathan Ross must have got his wires crossed and thought the memo said indoor pool not indoor sports. It’s the only reason Golden Points can think of for the winger wearing white and pink “speedos” for the session which included indoor cricket and soccer games. Whatever the case he inspired his teammate (or maybe put the other teams off their game) but his group won the day.
* They may be far from the finished product, but Nathan Brown was excited by a passage of play Brock Lamb and Jaelen Feeney produced against the Panthers.
“Their start to the second half was brilliant: seven showing and going through and playing to six in close support. That is how footy was played a long time ago before people started plotting them on each side of the field. That was really encouraging for me.”
* Sam Stone was literally too good to be selected for the NSW under-20s to take on Queensland before Origin I. Stone was ruled ineligible because he has played too many NRL games. His Knights teammate might adopt the same approach on the golf course where Stone plays off a handicap of two.
