Demolition on the old facility at the end of May quickly made way for construction efforts.
“Anyone who walks past the site will see the ground floor slab in place, and more and more block work going up,” Port Stephens Council community and recreation coordinator Brock Lamont said.
A second slab, part of the observation tower, was scheduled to be poured on Tuesday.
“Construction is still running on time and on budget notwithstanding the recent spell of bad weather,” Mr Lamont said.
“We’ve got our fingers cross that we don’t have any more bad weather.”
The tender for the project was appointed to PDA Construction.
The new surf lifesaving facility will replace the tired old facilities which have past their expiration date.
“A new building and amenities always helps in our line of work,” Port Stephens lifeguard supervisor Phil Rock said at the time of demolition.
“It will mean a bit more comfort and more space for equipment.”
The new building’s footprint will be double the size of the old item and will cost $840,000.
Construction is due for completion late-September, just in time for summer.
