Alyssa Coggan, Maddi Mitchell, Andi Law and Erin Clark, all 15, were selected for the under-15 NSW CHS touch football team, which will travel to Narrabeen this weekend for the state tournament.
Teacher Nicole Mitchell, who has coached the four girls through Nelson Bay Touch Association for more five years, said it was unique to have so many players from the same school selected for the team.
“We had seven in the Hunter team, including these four girls, which is unusual because girls get picked from all over the Hunter from Muswellbrook to Taree and Belmont-Swansea,” Mitchell said.
It was from the Hunter competition – the Hunter under-15 team came second in the regional competition in May – that the four girls were selected for the NSW team.
They will also be part of Tomaree High School’s touch team that will travel to the state knockout on the Central Coast in August.
Tomaree won the open category last year.
But first is the NSW CHS tournament, which will be played July 29 and 30.
From that, girls can be selected for the all schools team which will play in the national tournament in Adelaide later this year.
