The men’s shed was successful in a federal grant application and will receive $1000, which will be used to buy a plasma cutter.
In a visit to the shed last Wednesday to meet the grant recipients, Ms Swanson learned about the work members do and was very impressed.
“One of the things I found so impressive was that they look outwards and ask how they can help in the community,” she said.
“I’m really pleased they have received $1000 through the National Shed Development Program. They’re a terrific group of men.”
Jim Eves, the newly appointed chair of the shed, said the plasma cutter would help with metal work projects.
Mr Eves said the men were appreciative of Ms Swanson’s visit, and her acknowledgement of their community work.
