Hundreds of people turned out to the Nelson Bay-based centre for last year’s show.
Marilyne Anderson from Nelson Bay Bonsai Club, hosts of the event, expects similar numbers to the 2017 show, which begins on Friday.
Ms Anderson has been practising the art of bonsai, which is keeping a tree in its natural form but small, for 16 years.
She said the popularity of bonsai had grown in recent years.
The Bonsai Show will run at the centre located in Cultural Close, Nelson Bay from 10am to 4pm between September 29 and October 2.
There will be demonstrations daily form 11am.
Anyone with an ailing bonsai in need of advice is encouraged to head along with their plant and talk with the group.
Following the Bonsai Show, the Christmas Bush Garden Club will host an open day for National Gardening Week at the centre on October 8.
The club’s members, which meet in the Norburn Avenue community hall on the third Tuesday of the month, help maintain the centre’s gardens.
During the open day, running 10am to 4pm, there will be a plant sale, cake stall and walks through the centre’s gardens.
Yvonne Hill from the garden club encourage residents along to appreciate the gardens as well as gardening in general.
The centre’s cafe is open on the weekends.
