"With a new skate park, playground and hit wall, as well as new pathways throughout the park, it's a great new space for the community of Lakeside to get active outdoors," Port Stephens mayor Palmer said.
"This park has something for everyone – whether you're a preschooler, in high school or beyond – it caters to all ages.”
The $130,000 skate park and reserve works at Benjamin Lee Drive were funded by the Federal Government's Community Development Grant, the NSW Government's Social Housing Community Improvement Fund and Port Stephens Council.
"We couldn't have done it without the help of the federal and state governments, who have both invested $50,000 to help make this skate park a reality," Cr Palmer said.
The council's community and recreation coordinator Brock Lamont said the skate park was designed by specialist contractors who also constructed the Boomerang Park facility.
"The skate park has been designed for beginners to intermediate users, and caters for boards, scooters and BMX riders with a quarter pipe, flat bank, roll over and rail to try," Mr Lamont said.
"It's great see so many riders coming to try out Raymond Terrace's two new skate parks, and the feedback we've had has been really positive," he said.
