Port Stephens Duty MLC Catherine Cusack welcomed the installation of a reverse vending machine at Muree Golf Club, on Friday.
She announced that people will be able claim their 10-cent refunds on eligible drink containers from Saturday (April 28).
“The reverse vending machine has now been installed and providing the site works go to schedule, customers will be able to start redeeming refunds from this Saturday,” she said.
“Customers across the state have widely supported the NSW Government’s initiative and have now returned over 270 million containers.
“The Raymond Terrace community can now get involved in the largest litter reduction strategy in our state’s history.”
It is the third reverse vending machine for Port Stephens.

“People will be able to redeem their refund for a cash voucher to spend at Woolworths, have it paid directly into their PayPal account or choose to donate their refund directly to charities,” Ms Cusack said.
Most drink containers between 150ml and three litres are eligible for the 10c refund.
Containers should be intact (not crushed or broken) and have a readable barcode to be eligible.
“There has been widespread community support for Return and Earn, with nearly 270 million containers returned across the state since December 1”, NSW Environment Minister Gabrielle Upton said.
