The Examiner reported on June 3 that Shoal Bay resident Rosalind Ashton suffered facial bruising, lacerations to her head and a twisted left ankle when she fell over in the park.
Ms Ashton was walking on a pathway on June 19, when she stepped into a hole and lost her footing, falling onto the wooden beam that borders the path.
The hole was formed by water run-off from an overhanging picnic hut, whose downpipe and guttering were missing due to vandalism.
"Council builds all structures as vandal-proof and as economically as possible, and absolutely condemns the actions of these and all vandals," a council spokesman said.
According to the spokesman the pathway has been fixed and the council will be undertaking a permanent repair to the area over the next month.
"If we receive rain prior to the permanent fix, council will inspect and make good the area following the rain," the spokesman said.
Ms Ashton is still recovering at home from her injuries.
