WHEN considering improved signage to the new Government Road car park and other parking facilities, I do hope that the council [Examiner, February 26] does not miss out on showing that there is another way in and out of the new one, located off Government Road up from the Seabreeze and Nelson Resort.

I was surprised to learn that many locals are unaware that there is a vehicular link from the Donald Street West car park adjacent to Rivers.
So if you miss a park there, just drive through to the new one.
Outside of holiday time it seems to be underutilised potentially because of the limited access off Government Road.
Rather than convert part of Tomaree Oval for tourist facilities, at the corner of Port Stephens Drive we already have the rest space and even toilet facilities available.
This location would also capture visitors to Birubi, Anna Bay and Soldiers Point.
That is, of course, if the council doesn't sell off this ratepayer-owned land first.
