State clubs that earn more than $1million annually in gaming
machine revenue are required to donate money to community
projects and services.
In return, they receive dollar-for-dollar gaming tax deductions. Great Lakes Council’s community development co-ordinator, Lyndie Hepple, said that the ClubGrants money ensured ‘‘local needs are funded’’.
Last year’s ClubGrants program in the Great Lakes resulted in 62 applications for funding.
More than $75,000 in grants was handed out to 32 organisations across the community.
Previous recipients cannot get further funding unless their project reports were completed and submitted to the donating club.
Applications close at 5pm on Friday, April 24. Submit them online at greatlakes.nsw.gov.au.
