THE Karuah RSL Sub-Branch hopes to bring as many people together as possible to take part in the 100 years of Anzac commemorations planned for the town.

A commemorative dinner open to the entire community  is planned for Saturday, April 18.

Dinner attendees will get the first look at a booklet featuring the stories of Karuah World War I soldiers, which will be handed out to the public for free on Anzac Day.

‘‘The commemorative booklet has been printed and delivered to us,’’ sub-branch secretary Barrie French said.

‘‘We have 1500 copies. We will make a copy available to the schools at Karuah, Booral and Stroud and will be distributing the rest free throughout the community.

‘‘There will also be some copies available from the RSL and [Tony King’s] garage.’’

The sub-branch received $4132 through the Centenary of Anzac Grants Program in November 2014.

The money was used to produce the commemorative booklet dedicated to the soldiers from the Karuah area who fought in WWI.

Information in the booklet was researched by the Karuah History Group.

The group’s Benita Parker was given special thanks for her dedication in researching the 46 names of men from the district who enlisted and are featured in the booklet.

The dinner will be held at the Karuah RSL from 6.30pm on Saturday, April 18.

The cost is $20 which includes a meal, live entertainment and guest speakers.

Tickets are available from the RSL.

Anzac Day services in Karuah will run as they have done each year on April 25.

The dawn service march will start from Tony King’s garage on the old Pacific Highway for a 6am start in Memorial Park.

After breakfast at the RSL a memorial service will be held at 9am.

If any organisation or individual wishes to place a wreath at either service phone Mr French on 0408 449 256 to have their name included on the tribute list.
