Now the safari suit-wearing organ salesman is going galactic.
Morgan said he wants to go where “no organ has gone before” – space – and he is taking audiences with him.
“We’re going to get spaced out,” he said. “It’s going to be a cosmic cabaret.”
Morgan is the eponymous character in Barry Morgan’s World of Organs, a stage show based on a fictional electronic organ salesman from Adelaide.
The character of the eccentric yet lovable salesman is portrayed by Australian musician and comedian Stephen Teakle.
When Morgan is not busy giving the public the best organ deals in town, people can catch him performing live and sharing the joy of the organ on Australian stages.
Barry Morgan is...Spaced Out is the character’s next offering.
He is currently touring his space-themed show around Australia, which will hit Newcastle at the end of September and into October.
For space travelers and organ lovers alike, Morgan will play all the great cosmic hits from Star Wars and Star Trek to Space Invaders and beyond.
“There will be lots of organ music, lots of laughs, a sense of community and a sense of family,” Morgan said about his cosmic-themed show.
“I hope some people get dressed up in a safari suit or even better, their favourite martian outfit or space costumes.
“There’s going to be a big singalong… It’s going to be one big party.”
Morgan rose to fame in 2010 after appearing on the ABC’s music television show Spicks and Specks.
He has gone on to sell out out live shows at the Melbourne and Sydney comedy festivals, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth Fringe festivals plus The Famous Spiegeltent.
Morgan toured his world of organs to Newcastle in May 2015.
He returns to Newcastle for three shows including a Centre for Hope fundraiser at Lizotte’s on September 26, a special performance for University of Newcastle students (October 4) and a public appearance at Carrington Bowling Club on October 2.
Morgan said Carrington Bowling Club was one of his favourite venues to perform at.
“They sure know how to party at Carrington,” he said.
Tickets to the Carrington show, available from mrbarrymorgan.com, cost $30 per person.
The Examiner has one double pass to give away to the show, which starts at 7.30pm.
