For the holidaymaker, family on a budget or avid cyclist, Port Stephens offers an abundance of "to do" cycle tracks, making for great entertainment that won't break the bank.
Port Stephens Council boasts 50 kilometres of shared cycleways throughout the area and all offer natural beauty along the way.
There are plenty of routes ranging from 2km to 12km with connections to well maintained recreation areas and barbeque facilities.
You can get detailed cycle path maps for free from the Nelson Bay tourist centre near the Marina.
Frank Vasallo, from Shoal Bay Bike hire, said there were a number of cycle paths emanating from Shoal Bay with the three-kilometre cycle way to Fingal Bay being the most popular.
It takes the riders through the Tomaree National Park, bringing them out at the Fingal Bay Surf Lifesaving Club.
Another of the cycle paths takes the riders along the foreshore to the point or headland.
