The Raymond Terrace resident will be joined on the week-long Bash by his wife Robyn and friends Kevin and Sandra Gleeson.
The crew’s theme for this year’s Bash is Cat in the Hat.
“My best memory from the Variety NSW Bash is was watching the presentation of a special bed to a young boy and his mum in Gunnedah in 2012,” he said.
“Not a dry eye in the group. Moments like this makes all the fund-raising worthwhile,” Mr Peters said.
The ‘71 HG that the Cat in the Hat crew will be adventuring in is co-owned by Mr Peters and brother-in-law Peter Lavis who also sponsors the vehicle to take part.
This year the car, called Nanny Ruth in honour of Mr Peters’ mother, and crew has raised close to $12,000 for Variety – the Children’s Charity.
This year the Bashers will head to Nundle, Glen Innes, Tulloona, Narrabri, Eumungerie, Forbes, Euabalong West, Griffith, Caragabal, Orange, Mullion Creek and Mudgee.
They will roll into Newcastle on May 26, with a family fun day scheduled for the foreshore park between 11am and 3pm.
During the Bash, the cars will stop at schools and make donations, which Mr Peters said was a highlight each year.
