Running from 9.30am to 3pm, the day features sausage sizzle, market stalls and a variety of demonstrations of the types of art produced at the centre, including bonsai, mosaic, pottery, woodwork, fabric art, spinning, weaving, quilting, patchwork, embroidery, knitting, cards.
Spring Affair will also be an opportunity to view current exhibitions on display.
From August 15 to September 25 PSCAC is hosting the exhibitions “Our Sunburnt Land” and “Dancing on the red wind”.
Our Sunburnt Land will be made up works from members who took up the challenge to capture the colours of Australia, displaying vibrant light, wild winds and red soil.
In “Dancing on the red wind” members have focused on using the colour red, for people, places and objects, to produce this amazing new body of exciting works.
PSCAC has a membership of approximately 400 who make and sell their work on site.
While visiting, browse the unique handmade items such as jewellery, pottery, knitted goods, cards, bonsai, fusion, patchwork, embroidery, spinning and weaving, woodwork and mosaics.
The Port Stephens Community Arts Centre is celebrating its 35th year in 2018.
The centre is located on what used to be the old Nelson Bay Hospital site at Cultural Close, off Shoal Bay Road in Nelson Bay.
“Today we often see visitors who pronounce that they were born here or in one case a visitor claimed to have done all the washing for years and hung it up the hill to dry,” PSCAC spokesperson Mike Francis said.
The Gallery is open to the public 10pm-4pm daily. The Garden Café is open Saturday and Sunday 10am-2.30pm.
