Applications for funding to the Local Sports Defibrillator Program made by Karuah and District Tennis Club, Nelson Bay Netball Association, Nelson Bay Tennis Club, Tomaree Triathlon Club, Tilligerry Tennis Club and Nelson Bay Croquet Club were approved.
Each will now receive funds to buy an Automated External Defibrillator.
Newcastle Orienteering Club, based in Seaham, was also successful in its application.
Minister for Sport, Stuart Ayres, said 322 sports clubs across the state have been awarded a grant to purchase a defibrillator in the current round of funding.
“The four-year Local Sport Defibrillator Program assists sports organisations across the state to purchase AEDs for their sport and recreation facilities,” Mr Ayres said.
“Clubs receive 50 per cent towards the funding and maintenance of a defibrillator.”
“Since the commencement of the program in 2017, the NSW Government has provided $985,000 to assist with the purchase of 780 defibrillators for sport and recreation facilities.”
The program will remain open for applications from now until May 2019.
