More than 2000 people flocked to each of the Nelson Bay and Medowie Street Food Socials in January, an event from the team at Sacred Tree Markets, but founder Jessica Rowarth said further socials were not possible without "additional support".
"We loved running Street Food Social," Ms Rowarth said. "We were thrilled with the community and trader response from the January trial and hoped to continue running it but Street Food Social isn't financially sustainable. We weren't able to continue without additional support."
Street Food Social has partnered with Hunter developers the McCloy Group to bring a new event to Medowie.
The next social will be staged in The Bower, a Medowie housing estate being developed by the McCloy Group, on Sunday, April 14 between 4pm and 9pm.
"It is a stunning new location with multiple onsite playgrounds and we are really excited to have the Bao Brothers, El Poco Loco, Harry's Schnitzel Truck, Crepe Face, Choux Patisserie and Medowie locals The Crafty Pit confirmed," Ms Rowarth said.
The increased popularity of food trucks at Sacred Tree Market nights sparked the idea for the Street Food Social, which sees a number of vendors brought together in the one spot for an afternoon for people to enjoy.
Sacred Tree Markets announced its new street food concept in January. The trial ran for a month and was an instant hit with Port Stephens foodies who attended three trial dates in January.
The trial saw about 2000 people attend each of the two fly Fly Point and one Medowie socials. A third trial location at Anna Bay washed out on February 2.
With the McCloy Group on board, a third Street Food Social will be staged in Medowie, which will also include a meet and greet with Newcastle Knights star Mitchell Pearce, a fire show by Newcastle's Hannah Indigo, children's entertainment and live music.
"Bringing opportunities to the community and supporting local initiatives is something the McCloy Group is strongly supportive of. Street Food Social has already proved itself a success in Medowie so helping keep that alive for the community was something we were certainly on board with." Brian Swaine, the McCloy Group's managing director, said.
The McCloy Group is also offering the public an opportunity to win one of 10 'Free Feed' vouchers to celebrate the social.
To enter, go to thebowermedowie.com.au/streetfoodsocial and complete the form.
The winners will be announced Friday, April 12. Winners can redeem their 'Free Feed' voucher at The Bower Street Food Social.
