The Culture Port Stephens forum will consist of of conversations, presentations and the sharing of ideas but also aims to identify and map trails that showcase the environmental, cultural, heritage and artistic spaces of interest in the area.
Culture Port Stephens has grown from Port Stephens Council's cultural interagency group, which consisted of artisans that joined together to network.
From this group, the idea of cultural trails came about. This could be a trail of home-based galleries or a natural trail showcasing environmental aspects of the LGA, or even heritage or Aboriginal places of interest.
The cultural forum is an opportunity for people from across the arts, heritage, Aboriginal, environmental and events or place activation sectors to map potential trails of interest.
To be held at Broughtons at the Bay from 5.30pm on Thursday, June 6, the forum will also include activities to consult with attendees on the new cultural plan for Port Stephens.
The forum includes: networking and sharing opportunities with people from the Port Stephens cultural and creative community; a presentation of case studies from local speakers with a focus on the idea of cultural trails and; break out conversations to map assets, plan for the future and explore ideas around cultural heritage, Aboriginal culture, events and activations and art.
