Bowls director Terry Antram said that the women would be hosting their annual City vs Country match at the Soldiers Point club July 27-28.
"This event is used as a selection pathway to the NSW women junior, open and senior teams and will include some of the best female bowlers in the country over a three-test series. Round one will start on Saturday at 9am, round two on Saturday at 1pm and round three on Sunday from 9am," he said.
In August, the club will again run the popular Soldiers Point Classic.
"This event will see three teams picked by the NSW men's selectors and one team chosen by the Australian selectors in a round robin series," Antram said.
"The winners will have the honour of getting their name on the Jim Richardson Shield. Some of the best bowlers in the world including the current men's singles Commonwealth Games gold medalist Aron Wilson will be on show."
This event will kick off a four-day bowls extravaganza with the round robin to be conducted on August 24-25, followed on Monday and Tuesday, August 26-27, with the Soldiers Point 12000, which is one of the richest pairs events in the country.
Antram said that the club had also recently taken out the Newcastle District Bowls Association No 1 midweek pennant flag (Zone 2).
The team included 17-year-old Kaleb Austin, a flag winner in his first year in the top grade.
