Port Stephens Council reported the theft of the signs, which went missing over the weekend.
A council spokesperson said that it was important for the community to realise that the signs had been erected to reduce the impact of the traffic congestion for the residents of James Paterson Street during the peak holiday period.
"They also ensure there's safe and clear access for emergency services. Council conducted consultation with residents in James Paterson Street and local businesses."
The spokesperson said that more signs had been ordered and would be re-erected as soon as possible prior to the long weekend. The signs restricted parking from 6am to 6pm.
