The society is seeking a cast to join its A River Runs Beside It event, a live production where a small cast will perform a series of short historical stories and dramas local to the area in Raymond Terrace on October 11.

"No acting experience required," event organiser and society member Kaye Newton said. "There isn't a lot of acting or choreography compared to a play. It's more vocal stories, which is why we're seeking cast members with confident vocal skills. A strong voice will help."

The historical society had planned to host an all new event, called As Time Goes By, in April. This could not go ahead due to the pandemic.

In its wake, the society has called on residents to submit (by September 27) 500 words on "what 2020 means to you" for a time capsule and is hosting the dramatised historical walk.

The production will be performed twice on October 11 starting at the rotunda in Riverside Park and ending at the marriage trees in King Street.

A script has been written by fourth generation Port resident Tracey Edstein. The production, enriched by historical props, will be directed by Talia Goodwin. The performances will be videoed on the day.

The society is seeking male and female actors aged 14 years and older. Auditions will be held in Raymond Terrace on September 12.

You will be sent a test script to take to the audition, and given an approximate audition time. Once a cast is selected, rehearsals will be held from September 18 to October 10.
