Nelson Bay's champion athlete Maya Stewart has had another break out season in her rugby career winning the women's national competition with the NSW Waratahs in a shortened version due to COVID-19.

Maya lined up with Randwick in the the Sydney competition and scored two tries in the grand final only to lose to the competition favourites Sydney University.

Maya has won selection with the Wallaroos squad and could represent at the sevens and 15 a side level.
The former Fingal surf club flyer won several state beach sprint titles on her way to rugby glory with her blinding pace her greatest asset.
2021 is expected to be a massive year for the Wallaroos with the Tokoyo Olympics sevens tournament in the mix in July followed by the women's rugby World Cup in New Zealand in October.
On her quest to play at the elite level Maya does not shirk the hard stuff and in recent weeks digging ditches for a plumber on a building site for $200 a day.
Fortunately she has gained a traineeship in child care with a firm in Sydney that is keen to allow her time off for her representative rugby career.
Earlier this year prior to the COVID shutdowns, Maya Stewart showed her class as a try-scoring machine in her second season playing with the Waratahs in the 2020 Super W premiership.
The high flying winger, who will celebrate her 21st birthday in March 2021, ran in for six tries in the NSW team's opening three rounds to be leading try-scorer.
Playing against Melbourne at AAMI Park in the opening round match, Stewart was unstoppable, touching down for a hat-trick of five pointers in the visitors' 33-3 rout of the Rebels. She backed up that performance with a double in the Waratahs' third round thrashing of the Brumbies 41-8. NSW had a bye in round two.
Then playing against Queensland Reds at Ballymore last Saturday, the powerhouse left winger dived over midway through the second half to help NSW beat their arch-rivals 13-10 in a bruising affair.
