DPS CEO Eileen Gilliland said that it was difficult times for many Port Stephens businesses with the lockdowns seeing visitation drop to below 10 per cent.
"The promotion aims to encourage the Port Stephens community to support local businesses while reminding everyone to follow the COVID health and safety rules," she said.
"Right now our businesses, more than ever, need the Port community to come together and support our local shops, clubs, restaurants, cafes, tourism attractions and tour operators."
Ms Gilliland said that there were a range of specials on offer available until August 31.
"Through this promotion, you'll find specials on local tours, attractions, golf, day spa packages and at cafes and restaurants.
"If you need a break, take a stay-cation, book a holiday house by the sea, a few nights in a luxury waterfront retreat or take a quintessential relaxing Aussie break at a holiday park. In just a few days and you will return home refreshed and feeling good for helping your neighbours at a time of need.
"Just remember to wear a mask indoors, check in and check out, hand sanitise and keep your social distance. All of us need to adhere to the mandatory rules to keep our local community safe. Let's stand together and support one another by enjoying a great day out in Port Stephens."
Mel Turner, business development manager at Moonshadow-TQC Cruises, said that local and regional visitors had been an enormous support over the lockdown period.
"The lockdown of the July school holidays saw many visitors coming from Newcastle, Upper Hunter and of course locally. I have come across incredible initiatives locally over the lockdown period and Moonshadow-TQC Cruises are delighted to be on board with the DPS campaign," she said.
"We are offering 20 per cent discount on our whale watching cruises for the month of August. Discover vouchers can still be used until the end of the month and in conjunction with this offer, so it is a great opportunity to get out on the water to see the whales.
"We still have a long way to go before we are back on an even keel, but with the help of local support and these great community and regional initiatives, we are on the right path to come out the other side and for that, we thank you for your support."
