Whether it's music under the stars, yoga in the park or a pop-up show for kids, Port Stephens has loads to see and do on any budget.
Grab a picnic rug and head down to Apex Park in Nelson Bay to enjoy live music on Friday afternoons in January and Friday and Saturday afternoons in February.
Local musicians and DJs will be bringing the weekend vibes from 4 to 6pm, leaving plenty of time to explore the waterfront for a bite to eat or take a stroll along the bay to Fly Point.
Performances are part of Port Stephens Council's It's on! initiative - a series of free activities and events.
Wanting to nail your New Year fitness goals? Head along to a free bootcamp class on Tuesday mornings in Apex Park. Run by professional trainers as part of It's on!, they're the perfect way to boost your health and fitness in a fun and friendly environment.
The series also includes free Zumba classes, markets every Wednesday and Saturday along Nelson Bay Foreshore, Lunchtime Sessions, as well as free pop-up kids shows.
New events are being added all the time, so make sure you check the website (portstephens.org.au/its-on) regularly for more family friendly fun.
With its expansive network of natural reserves and bikeways, some parts of Port Stephens are best explored on two wheels.
The 11 kilometre Raymond Terrace to Medowie Cycleway is a longer trip, skirting the shore of Grahamstown Dam, or for something a little less energetic, try the Fingal Bay shared path which starts at the Fingal end of Tomaree Road and runs right through to Barry Park.
If you've got kids in tow, our region also has some fantastic playgrounds to discover.
Bettles Park in Raymond Terrace has recently been given a makeover, with swings, slides and a nature play area suitable for toddlers and beyond.
Corlette Point Park's pirate ship inspired playground is a hit among the little ones, while further up the road Duchmans Beach playground is a great spot for a picnic, bike ride or scooter adventure.
There's nothing quite like summer in Port Stephens. It's on at our incredible places and our region is brimming with life and vibrancy - so visit portstephens.org.au/its-on and get exploring.
