Being a keen historian, I'm forever searching for old black and white photos that tell a story.

This old snap of Tomaree tells many stories.
The Norfolk pines are so small and the cricket pitch, I assume, was laid down during the war years.
The fishing must have been sensational, particularly for flathead in the corner between the pines and the jetty.
I recall the jetty which was alive with luderick over the winter months.
Around the corner, closer to the heads, a swimming pool was built by driving posts out into the port.
At night the pool would fill with luderick and mulloway that would swim between the posts.
With the old buildings serving no purpose it is time to start thinking about the future of this iconic area of prime real estate.
As I understand, Tomaree will remain in public hands with no chance of a marina or a casino which many are fearful of.
One of the options that I think should be given serious consideration is the establishment of a museum which would honor and recognise the Worimi people and the pioneering families.
We, as a community, have very little to show for a region with a magnificent history.
