Kirra Scher, owner of Raymond Terrace Eyecare Plus, received a national award of excellence in customer service and investment in world class diagnostic equipment.
She was also recognised for her work in the specialised area of eyecode lenses, which provides eyeware with the power to give up to five times higher focal precision.
Recognition of her service to the industry will see her spend seven days abroad at a French university in Paris, which has earned a reputation as a centre of excellence in new lens technology.
"I was absolutely taken aback," Mrs Scher said.
"Not everybody has the [lens] technology, but we have put a lot of investment in new lens technology."
In fact, the Raymond Terrace clinic is the only one in the Hunter that offers the technology to be able to measure for eye code lenses.
Mrs Scher will travel to Varilux University in June.
