"There were thirty or more animals of all shapes and sizes, not counting the humans who attended," Rosalie Atkinson, youth and young family ministry leader, said.
"There was a cat, a bird, a guinea pig, a beautiful small, serene Port Macquarie python, and dogs of all shapes and sizes.
"The largest was Joy, an elegant black Great Dane the size of a horse but with manners fit for Buckingham Palace."
The Reverend Kesh Govan opened the blessing service with an apt song, How much is that Doggy in the Window.
The blessing of the animals marks the day for Francis of Assisi, a 12th century Italian saint who could talk with animals.
Any donations received at the service will be donated to Port animal welfare groups.
